During the months of June, July, August and September the use of sewage sludge or animal manure as agricultural fertilizer is prohibited, as it negatively affects the quality of life of citizens, leading in some cases, unpleasant odors and proliferation of flies and mosquitoes, especially when agricultural practice was not done properly.
This action is taking place in recent years in different plots of the municipality of Jumilla because the sewage produced thousands of tons of sludge with high fertilizer, to be used as soil amendment because of its richness in organic matter and nutrients.
The Department of Environment of the City of Jumilla wants to remember and make clear to citizens that already published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia the final approval of the Municipal Ordinance on Citizen Security, which is collected as infringement this fact very serious and can be punished with a fine of 3,000 euros.
