IU-Green proposes to ban circuses that use animals in their shows (02/12/2015)

United Left-Greens presented a motion proposing to prohibit the installation of circuses with animals in Jumilla.

In the same call that municipal regulations be amended to exhibit animals in captivity or profit, in roads and public spaces of Jumilla or traveling facilities as circuses are not allowed.

Currently more than 200 cities in Spain have joined this initiative, among which Barcelona, ​​Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Villena or near Totana.

These cities towns of many other countries such as Austria, Finland, Sweden and Costa Rica among others are added.

They say that the life they lead the animals from circuses often characterized by isolation, punishment, fear and captivity.

Although the circus are apparently not violent, actually for animals they are "a life sentence to hard labor."

Vindicate the rights of all animals to be respected and to be freed from abuse, disproportionate effort or violent shows.

They point out that the conditions that are often in different circuses are not adequate, so that their welfare is not guaranteed.

From IU-Greens declare that "we must teach children to respect and appreciate the world with all its inhabitants" and explain that circuses teach the worst possible attitude towards animals, spoiled creatures dignity based on conduct unnatural activities for them.

They add that the shows should be educational and entertainment, so it is essential to respect other living beings.

They indicate that there are numerous companies that have stopped using animals as the main claim, focusing on the artistic work.

Exemplified the famous Cirque du Soleil, one of the largest in the world.

IU-Greens opt for this type of appealing to the public shows, where it is not necessary that any animal is mistreated.

They expect more awareness on the issue by the new municipal corporation, as in the previous legislature a similar proposal was rejected by both PP and PSOE, except for the commendable support of a former Socialist councilor.
