The Governing Council has approved a grant of 200,000 euros for the excavation, research and writing projects and museum construction of an interpretation center, restaurants and musealization of the Roman villa at The Cypress, in Jumilla.
The project comprises three distinct phases of action: excavation, research and museological, and has a duration of three years.
Work will begin this year and is expected to be completed in December 2010.
The regional government has also concluded the record in favor of cultural interest of the cypresses, which began in December 2006 to protect against deterioration.
The Roman villa of the Cypresses, located in the area of Los Paerezados, 1.8 miles from Jumilla, is an area of historical and archaeological interest.
