On 26 July the Band Jumillano Association Friends of Music (Ajam), participated in the Third National Contest of Bands "Enrique García Asensio."
It was the first edition and was held at the Castle of Minglanilla (Cuenca).
Jumillano The band placed third with a score of 280 points, according to reports from the association.
The first place went to the Society Musical "Santa Cecilia" de Requena (Valencia) with 320 points, and second place for the band Mislata Musical Instruction Center of Valencia with 312 points.
The award for Best Director went to Andrés Valero Castells, belonging to the Center Musical Instruction Mislata, author of the work of Free Choice "Silver Symphony, superbly played by the band he led.
The event received a high musical level, with stunning interpretations of each of the three participating bands, highlighting the special greeting he received the Association's own Jumillano by Fernando Bonnet Piqueras, juror and author of the adaptation and implementation of forced labor, Pan y Toros.
Similarly, the association received a special greeting Gabaldon Rogelio Pardo, Minglanilla Mayor.
Among the guests to the event, noting the presence of Pedro Piqueras Palencia, President of Jumilla Wine Route, who handed over all documentation to local authorities and members of the jury, on the activities and initiatives of the association president and the Fair and Festival 2008.
Jumillano Association Friends of Music, as well as Julian Andres Jimenez, director of the Band, were "very satisfied with the effort and work done by the musicians of the Association to which most warmly welcome."
