Cerdá calls the Miraflores Irrigation Community as an example of what Murcia represents modernization of irrigation (09/02/2009)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, now called the Community of Irrigators of Miraflores de Jumilla, which has an area of 1,500 hectares with a total of 700 villagers who grow stone fruit and seed in about a thousand parcels , as "an example of what the Region of Murcia is on modernization of irrigation."

Murcia counselor made the remarks during the signing of an agreement between the Community of Irrigators of Miraflores, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Centre for Soil Science and Applied Biology Segura, CEBAS-CSIC, and various financial institutions for a project Research on the feasibility of the use and development of the new water treatment plant in Jumilla.

Cerda said that "the Ministry will support the Community of Irrigators of Miraflores, with 70 percent of investments to build infrastructure and infrastructure necessary for improvement of irrigation Irrigation Community."

The adviser said that "in the last 12 years, investments in this community of irrigators were 13 million euros, of which the Ministry has contributed 60 percent, irrigators themselves at 38 and the ministry in a 2 percent. "

In December 2008, the Ministry of Agriculture approved a dossier submitted by the Community of Irrigators, which were projected performances, worth 3.2 million euros and would end all the works of modernization, such as improving Molar Salinas and reservoirs, water pipes, power lines for powering the processing centers of wells and remote maintenance and improvement of wells, among others.
