XV Festival Flamenco 'Ciudad de Jumilla' pays tribute to one of the winners of the Golden Grape (13/05/2009)

From 18 to 23 May, marks the fifteenth Jumilla National Festival de Cante Flamenco Jumilla City, organized by the Cultural Association Uva Peña Flamenca de Oro in collaboration with the City of Jumilla.

This year is going to pay homage to one of the winners of the Golden Grape previous editions.

The program of activities has been presented recently by the councilman of Culture Joan Guardiola, the association president José Martínez and Fernando Carcelén festival director.

This year we have introduced several innovations, including a panel discussion on "Flamenco in Murcia Region: Present and Future" and a Flamenco Meeting with the participation of five previous winners of which will yield a tribute.

Juana Guardiola said the hard work of the association to achieve "round program of activities, high quality and maintaining the essence of an important cultural event."

Also encouraged everyone to attend and participate in all events planned.

For his part, Jose Martinez thanked the support of City Council and the Department of Culture and the media and everyone who helped to make this festival can be carried out.

Fernando Carcelén was commissioned to publicize the program of events and recalled that the organization is advised of personalities from the world of flamenco.

The activities begin on Monday May 18 with the opening at 20:00 pm in the CAM, the Second Exhibition of Photographs of the Festival, it will reflect the fifteen year history of the festival.

On Tuesday, at 21:30 pm in the Theatre will take place Vico II Concurso de Cante Flamenco "Young Promises", which will include Judith Urbano, Nazareth Marcos, Cristina Delgado, Alejandro Pérez Luján and María Angeles.

Also performing as guest artists, guitarist Kiki Corpas, Concepcion Marin and Sara Perez Dance Group.

On Wednesday 20, at 19:30 CAM will be held at a round table which will focus on "Flamenco in the Region of Murcia.

It will involve, among others, the president of the Andalusian Flamenco Clubs, the promoter of the Festival del Cante de las Minas, the director of the chain and Professor Cope Málaga Blush.

Following the table, about 20:45 h be the projection of footage on the 2008 festival.

Antonio Sánchez Trigueros, a professor at the University of Granada will be the person carrying out the cry of the festival, on Thursday 21 at 20:00 pm in the CAM.

Then perform the Tap Dance Group and Isa Vega of Granada and later in Alceño Bodegas, is hosting the party Duende Flamenco.

On Friday 22 May from 10:30 in the morning there will be a tour of Jumilla, with visits to museums, theater, the old town and the monastery of Santa Ana at 14:00 pm there will be a meal Bodegas Alceño flamenco, where you can enjoy the cuisine of Jumilla.

At night, after 21:00 pm will be held the end of the Flamenco Guitar Competition III Pepe Acute involving Daniel Vaseca, David Caro, Juan Marín, Luis Davila and Ruben Martinez.

The contest will be entertained by the dancer Tamara Beardo.

The festival closes on Saturday May 23 at 9:30 pm there will be flamenco journey through the streets of Jumilla, accompanied Rociero Choir Our Lady of Sorrows, of Granada.

At 10:30 h will be received at City Hall the last five winners of the Golden Grape At 12:00 h will take place at the convent of Santa Ana rociera Mass, entertainment by the Choir Rociero Virgen de los Dolores.

Later, about 14:30 pm there will be a Flemish meal Salons Pius XII, and finally, at 21:30 pm, there will be a Flamenco Meeting in Vico Theatre, opens the dance group "Amen" by Manuela Laino, will be accompanied by Jumillano Aurora Gonzalez, who will dance "Green Eyes."

You will feature performances of five of the previous winners: Maria Isabel Rico, Pedro Cintas, Manuela Laino, Jose Leon and Pepe Alconchel.

Finally, Fernando Carcelén said expected attendance of 100 to 120 people at this event, which has a budget of about 60,000 euros.
