The Department of gardens will make explosions with cannon to try to ward off the plague of birds (24/11/2009)

From the Department of City Gardens will be carried out detonations with cannon to try to ward off the plague of birds suffering from some gardens in the municipality.

This performance will begin tomorrow, Wednesday 25 November and will extend over two weeks.

The blasts will be carried out on schedule from 16:30 to 18:30 in the Garden Snail and the Garden of King Don Pedro.

For this reason, since the council was to apologize to the residents of these areas for any inconvenience caused by the noise of these explosions.

According to the technical point of this department, it is a pest of starlings.

The starling is a bird with a small head, conical beak, yellow, slender body with black feathers of green and purple reflections and white spots, long tail and wings and red feet.

It measures about 22 cm from beak to tail tip, and 35 major.

This familiar bird lives in flocks and usually nests in hollow trees, but also takes over nests made by man to other birds.

Because it is so adaptable, in many places has become a plague.

In some cities, thousands of starlings coming from the field in large flocks in the evening to sleep in trees or under bridges, causing a spectacle.
