More than 50 people attend various courses offered by the Department of social and welfare policy (05/03/2010)

This morning I was handed the diplomas, the mayor and council of Social Skills courses, Volunteer, Cooking and Mechanics

A total of 54 people have participated in several courses offered by the Department of Social Policy and Welfare, in different programs of Social Integration and Vocational Training of persons at risk of exclusion.

This morning, the Mayor of Jumilla Francisco Abellán and Councilwoman Mariana Gómez area, along with several employees of the Centre of Social Services, have presented the diplomas to those attending the courses Basic Volunteer, Social Skills Level II, Food and Mechanics.

In this event, the Mayor welcomed those attending these courses and emphasized the importance of information "so that the recipient has more choices and can get a job in this society, increasingly complex and competitive."

Abellán has insisted that "to achieve the objectives, there is no better weapon than education and awareness and public authorities should provide that and people should know and take advantage of this effort to instill their families."

Finally he added that "they have achieved the objectives of the courses and so congratulations to instructors, staff council, the council and all of you."

For its part, Mariana Gómez stated that "one of the basic objectives of the council is to work with people to have some facilities to enter the labor market, giving students the skills to do so."

Gómez encouraged everyone to continue to participate in this type of course and not lose their enthusiasm for further education and personal growth.

Social Skills Course, was attended by 14 people and took place between November and December last year.

It was organized by the municipality, with a grant from Instituto Murciano Social Action, at a cost of 5,000 euros.

Lasted 60 hours and was conducted by the BA in Psychology and Feliciana Maria Prats González.

The general objectives of the course were to favor the acquisition of social skills and work of people at risk or social exclusion through the implementation of specific training activities on social and pre-employment skills, facilitate social integration and employment of the population that in a situation of social exclusion, promoting social skills acquisition and employment as a means to better social integration and participation, promoting the acquisition of healthy habits in both the personal and interpersonal relationships and foster education for personal development, social and employment of persons at risk of social exclusion.

This course covered topics such as 'expression of feelings', 'Recognize achievements and mistakes', 'Respect and trust', 'Conflict Resolution', 'Responsibilities', 'Development of attitudes and capacities for action', 'Motivation' 'Information on resources and social services',' utility of social networks', 'working habits'' Analysis and training resources and labor market 'and' Process in the job search, "among others.

For its part, in the Basic Volunteer 13 people took part, with 25-hour and the main objective was the basic training of volunteers.

In addition, pursuing other goals such as acquiring basic skills in the subject of volunteering and encourage and promote volunteerism.

The course contents have tried several, among others, basic notions of the concept of volunteerism, areas and types of volunteering, rights and duties of volunteers, legislation provides for the voluntary organizations engaged in social work and partnership and participation.

At a cost of 1,500 euros.

As for the mechanics course, which lasted 100 hours, was attended by twelve people and had a cost of 6,000 euros.

The contents were developed: motor mechanics, ignition circuit and the principles of carburetor, carburetors, fuel injection, and everything related to lubrication and cooling of the engine, transmission, clutches, gearboxes, differential, suspension , address, front, rear and brakes.

Also addressed the electrical system on dynamos, alternators, starters and electrical circuit of the automobile in general.

Besides searching techniques were individual and group employment, database management companies in the sector, development of curriculum and assistance to interviews.

Finally, the Kitchen and Pastry Course was attended by fifteen people and he saw, for 80 hours, things like tools and appliances, hygiene and food handling habits, cut vegetables, management knives, use of raw materials, basic conservation processes, preparation of sauces, frying techniques, boiled, broiled, sauteed, storing perishable food and baking and pastry techniques, among others.

This cooking course at a cost of 6,000 euros.

The latter three activities have been funded jointly by the Directorate General of Volunteers, Immigration and Cooperation and the city within the area of participation and social integration.

All courses have involved both immigrants and people of Jumilla.
